available to all those who compete at present or are just getting started. groups are small and tailored to your ability, come and have a go, see what you think i am sure you will have fun, make friends and learn lots.

we have had a busy weekend at the yard, with all teams competing in the mirror jumping competition, and the introduction of our new points league, all the members were busy sweeping up, filling water buckets, grooming ponies and helping with lessons and putting up jumps.............the best fun day we have all had for ages. thanks to everyone who participated.

please note that our next team training due to be held at howe c.c on thursday 13th october has changed to wednesday 12th october at 10am. we will be leaving lmec with the lorry at approx 9am, so if you have booked a place please make sure you are here early to get your pony ready. we should be back at lmec for around 1pm, but please remember you have to look after your pony on return , clean your equipment and muck out the lorry so if you are arranging to be picked up it would probably be around 2.30 before you will be finished

the longest handy pony course ever. set over 2 fields the indoor and outdoor arenas, everyone was shattered by the time they had run, jumped, galloped, climbed over and under obstacles, wiggled their way through the maize, and way too much more to mention. looking at the smiles on faces i think everyone had great fun, and cant wait till round 2, on the 9th october. big thanks yet again to all the helpers and especially the girls who ran with the stopwatches.. ... well done to sarah on murphy who was this weeks winner.

we are running 3 afternoons during the summer holidays to come and have a go

choose from a simple walk and trot test or be brave and do the prelim test

you can accumulate your score over the 3 weeks and get presented with your prize at the prize giving on the 3rd day.

everyone welcome, adults and children to come and have a go

dont worry if you dont think you can remember the test we can have someone to read it out for and give you some help.

finally our new school ha been approved. work starts at the end of the month presuming the weather stays fine........please everyone cross your fingers!!!! this is such great news as we will now have two all weather surfaces plus an upgraded grass jumping arena, so no matter when you come to ride your horse there will plenty of choice where to ride.

we have raised so far £1150.

this is a great achievement, from you all, adding this to our existing funds means we can now progress with our plans for the team arena.

we hope our race night will raise the remaining funds needed to finish the project.

the arena is now scheduled to start at the end of april (weather permitting)

and means all team members will have access to use the arena for their team lessons, or if they own or leas a pony they can enjoy much more free time.

once again a great day was had by all team members who attended our show at howe country centre. staring at 55 and 65cm for the little one and finishing with a 95 and 1.05m class for team A i think everyone had fun and jumped very well.big thanks to all those who helped and supported us on the day.

bob and bacardi joioned the yard a few weeks ago.

we have given them to 4 of our team members for the easter holidays to ride, groom and introduce to all the other ponies on the yard.

looks like they have been having loads of fun, and i am sure that by the end of the holidays the ponies will be cantering and jumping and will be ready to join team lessons soon.

a great day out at howe equestrian centre yet again, and nice to attend such a well organised event. even though it was a bit chilly and we had lost feeling in our fingers and toes. the team B members were delighted with 4 double clears and with fast enough times won the novice class, with another trophy to take home we will need a bigger trophy cabinet.... 2 adult memebers and 2 team A members made up the team - defying gravity!!!!!!!!! (which they did) new horse and rider partnerships made this an interesting day for them all behaved and after a wee bit more training am sure will be another winning team. team A had their first venture out in 4 months, with horses a bit fresh we had a couple of faults and it wasnt to be their day, however determined as they are we will put in some extra training sessions and it wont be long till they are winning red ribbons again. our team horse looked in superb condition after their snowy winter. well done to all of you

lochore meadows equine team and equestrian centre have been working closely with elmwood college, and we are pleased to announce that funding has now been achieved and we will be able to provide four members from team A the opportunity to train for their s/nvq level one in horse care, training will start at the end of january for the 4 girls. we hope that this will just be the start, and we will be able to provide this opportunity for future team members. this is a fabulous opportunity to provide school age children the chance to achieve an equestrian industry qualification, which will be recognised in all equestrian disciplines.

unfortunately we had to cancel team training at howe equestrian centre in december as we couldnt get the lorry out because of the snow, we will reorganise this for the beginning of february, when hopefully all the snow has gone. regular training sessions at lochore meadows equestrian centre have continued and have been well attended.
we hope to select teams to compete at the fife hint pony club team event at the end of january, we will keep you updated.

happy new year to everyone at lochore meadows equestrian centre.
the snow has not stopped us and we have had a busy festive season.
the christmas party was great, everyone danced and played games untill we were all exhausted.
we had a dressage competition and a showjumping competition during the holidays too, everyone who attended went home with rosettes, and a great effort was made by all competitors to ride a great dressage test and made the judges job very difficult to find an overall winner. which was emma calder riding trixie.
lessons have been running as normal, and remember to use your christmas card voucher before the end of january.

all day thursday the yard was a hive of activity. all 25 team members were taking ponies to howe equestrian centre to practice their showjumping.. everyone looked super smart in their new uniforms, and made a huge effort to have their ponioes gleaming too. 5 trailors and the 8 horse lorry headed of followed by a convoy of parents and supporters. team A rode first, all jumping clear and then clear again in the jump off. we then had a bit of a practice with some tight turns in the jump off and finished off with jumps at 1.10m well done team A. team B were next to go, with some of these members never having been to a show all hands were on deck to make sure everyone got a clear round, and made it successfully round the jump off course. with a huge cheer form the audience everyone completed the course. team c were last to go. none of these members have competed before, leah d was a great sport and ran the course a few times on her feet to allow the ponies to follow her, team A were on hand to cheer support at every fence . with smiles all round everyone completed their practice fences and made it round the clear round. well done to all competitors and a huge thanks to all helpers and supporters. we will be looking to do this again soon as it was such a great night. big thanks to charlie and jill for the use of their centre and opening the cafe to feed our hungry hoards.

team b and c will be taking part in a combined training event at lochore meadows equestrian centre on saturday 6th november. teams of 3 or 4 children lead by their team manager will complete an equitation test and then ride over a course of show jumps. points will be awarded throughout and bonus points for the best turned out. there will be no sunday lesson on this weekend.

monday afternoons half day pony lease - come along and look after your pony, grooming, mucking out, and feeding him, get a riding lesson/hack, and play with your friends.

friday all day - own a pony for the whole day, all the same as above, and you receive 2 hours of riding instruction.

thursday 28th october - best turned out competition, clean all your gear, and get your pony sparkling, ready for inspection by the judges.

1hr hacks running every day of the holidays, suitable for all those that can canter.

half hour treks running every day - for all the little ones to come and have a go at horse riding.

congratulations to our teams who entered the team showjumping at howe equestrian centre. we had our young team enter the first class. all rode well and with clear rounds from everyone our team was placed 1st. our second team entered the 70cm class and with 4 double clears we were delighted to win 1st place again. we really couldnt have asked for more.

big thanks to the pony club for organising such a good event, which was so well supported. and also thanks again to jill and charlie at howe equestrian. we have had loads of requests from our other team members to go along the next time.

on sunday we opened the doors to the good people of fife, to allow everyone a little taster of what we offer here at lochore meadows equestrian centre.
after a quick head count we reckon more than 600 people visited the centre
free pony lessons were offered to everyone., we had face painting, pony grooming, bouncy castle, bucking bronco, free refreshments and way too much more to mention.
i think every one had a great time and we have certainly been inundated with requests for pony rides since.
we raised nearly £1400 for our teams to get out to competitions and for further training.
so a huge thankyou to everyone who contributed.

members from team A and team B headed off to inchcoonans centre. every one had a great day, and everyone was successful in bringing home the prizes.
even holly the dog got out off bed to skip round the showjumps to get placed 2nd in the horse and hound class.
little dandy had his first outing in the mountain and mooreland class, and with the help of emma calder mananged to behave well for 3rd place

winter horse/pony lease

lease your favourite horse or pony from us. we will take care of your horse on normal livery. and we will provide all feed, bedding, and grass turnout.
included in your lease you will recieve 4 riding school lessons per month, and receive the usual livery discount on any further lessons or hacks.
wekend livery hacks at the weekend will be £5.00 per rider, however we need at least 3 riders booked for each hack to go ahead.
join in evening lessons, (spaces permitting) for only £1.50.
free use of all facilities, when not in use ( winter lights charge will apply as usual)
lease of various horses will be available from the end of october through to the end of march.

aftera very busy day of team trials a few memberes from team A and team B headed out to the scottish national equestrian centre to practice their showjumping skills
olivia, louise and shannon all team B members easily acheived a clear round over 55cm
leah was first and emma third in the 65cm class
and leah was second and amy third in the 75 cm class.
well done to all of you.
my new pony spencer made his first outing with leah j on board, he behaved really well and leah did a great job to piot him round the clear round. to get his first ever rosette.

trials day

over 20 young children from our riding school attended to try out for the new lochore meadows equine team. All were seccessful and we have formed three teams for our new club to take forward to coach, with the hope of getting out to local competitions. most children who ride at riding school level will never get the opportunity to compete, which is why we have put the club together, all memeberes will receive a club lesson and extra coaching sessions in the run up to competitions. all children are welcome to try out for the teams, whether you have your own pony or not you can hire one from the riding school.

congratulations to our new Lochore Meadows Equine Team A who went out on Sunday to the x country event at the fife riding club.
the team had never competed at x country before and were a little nervous.
we all went along the night before to walk the course, ensuring no one would get lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
All the team had a great round, and we were delighted at the prize giving when sarah with Mr Spot got first, Leah J with ebony got second, Amy with Kara got 3rd and Leah j with Tia got Fourth.
well done to all the team we all had a great day.
big thanks to fife riding club for organising such a great event, we hope to bring more competitiors next year.

our new ponies arrived this week, and have settled in easily, i am sure you will see them out and about over the holidays as they get used to life at lochore meadows.
barry is a 15hh black gelding with big furry feet and a very long mane, he is very cute.
punkie is a 13hh blue and white pony, very cute and has a lovely jump.
spencer is 13.2hh bay gelding he is not for the iding school, but will hopefully go on to be a successful working hunter pony.

we have had lots of our youngsters out at shows lately
all have been very well behaved
west fife show
tiny was placed 3rd in the heavyweight hunter
chelsea was placed 5th at her first outdoor show
all the kids took their ponies and had a great day out, everyone came home with rossettes
hector was 2nd in the 85cm double clear challenge
missy was 5th in the 75cm class

having finally persuaded some children that dressage really can be fun, and after a few practice sessions at riding the test, we all set off to howe equestrian to compete in the prelim dressage, all ponies behaved impeccably, and little polo was so cute and even though he has never been away from home he was very good. weel done to everyone and we will be going back out in a fortnight.

several of our keen young riders are heading out on wednesday to the scottish national equestrain centre to compete in a showjumping competition. lots of practice has been put in at home, to get the ponies jumping well and lots of washing and scrubbing of horses, equipment and children lol lol to make sure everyone looks their best.

well done to amber who won best fancy dress on our first easter hack. bethan and megan took the the ride around the loch to enjoy some cantering. the weather was a bit wet when they set off however it didnt dampen their spirits. all riders came back singing and laughing. and the sun had come out for their return.

when i had this idea, i didnt realise just how many people would take up the offer. however we were overwhelmed with the amount of children who managed to persuade (or bribe) their parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles to come along and let the children teach them.
33, yip thats right thirty three willing or unwilling grown ups showed up on sunday at 3pm to enjoy a half hour lesson given by their children. all adults got some basic instruction on how to stop, start and steer before having to navigate an obstacle course, before the kids had great delight in teaching the adults to try rising trot................ easier said than done, however some adults showed they had obviously ridden before, and looked quite professional.
most of the adults brought along moral support, the car park was full, and i have never seen so many people in the gallery.
the fire was on, cakes and nibbles were served, and all the spectators cheered their support, even more so when we all began trotting,
prises were awarded for best instructors and best riders. such good fun we will have to do it again,
big thanks to all who helped on the day, especially heather for making all the cakes and sandra for providing the prizes

after a lot of practice all 16 riders arrived early on friday morning, in their show gear to ride their first dressage test. all the girls did really well and rode a really nice test.
after that everyone competed over the working hunter course, with trees, cows, hay bales and ducks on a duck pond decorating the arena all riders successfully completed the course.
next came the show jumps, with the chance to get the jumps put higher for a few extra points, we had some daring riders achieve quick clear rounds.
after a short break and hot dogs, tea and coffee all round we were set up for the pony club games. as usual this is the highlight at any of our shows, and the audience were certainly entertained, infact a few were crying with laughter.
for once we managed to minimise the cheating.......lol.............so i think a fair result was achieved.

As from 20th february 2010

There will no longer be an 11.30am lesson. children in this lesson can either join the young riders club at 9am, ride at 11.30am on a sunday or choose one of our after school lessons.

The 10am young riders club will start a little later, and run from 10.30am -12.30pm.

well the weather held out for the show and we all managed to stay dry. All the competitors had a good day and i think everyone went home happy with at least one rossette. Winner of the best rider 10 years and under was Olivia Brown, and the best rider 11 years and over was Jade Edmund. congratulations to both. All three jumping classes went well and we had some exciting jump offs with some very fast times too. The pony club games are always good fun and as usual everyone joined in, the relay race ran fine however the potato and spoon race and the obstacle race involved a bit of cheating lol lol. We had to award a couple of special awaards to paula for being the oldest rider.........and to emma calder for being the most stylish faller offer!!!!!!!!! points were awarded all day and the overall points champion was Olivia Brown with Rosie.well done. Big thanks to Ann Thompson for coming along to judge and to all the friends and family who came along to support the competitors.

cowboy and indians

well what a laugh we all had on sunday afternoon as all the clients appeared on the yard dressed as cowboys/girls and indians. i am sure the chicken shop must have been sold out!!!!!!!!!!with everyone split into two rides we set off around the loch in opposite directions searching for WANTED posters, and armed with water pistols and hundreds of stickers. when both rides were in site off each other there was a stand off as each team worked out a strategy. nobody wanted shot or stickered!!!!!!!!!!!jim, bethan, leah j, leah d, jade and paula set off around the bushes at a desperate rate off knots to try and catch each other. leah d ended up on her feet trailing her pony after her at one point and still nobody caught her.lol lol, it really was like a scene from penelope pitstop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!with lots of yee haaas each ride set off again on the route home, all made it home safely well nearly. a low branch on the kids ride meant that anyone on anything bigger than a 12.2 would have to try a bit of limbo................ unfortunately for rebecca her pony tara is 13.2..............hee hee well you can guess the rest. back at base, camp cook robert had the beans and sausages ready as everyone was starving!!!!thanks to all who attended it really was great fun, and is set to be another activity for our annual calander

it seems no time at all since we were on the summer holidays, and now here i am letting you know whats on for october.
loan a pony for 5 days. £60.00 an ideal chance to own your own pony for the week, keeping it here at the stables as if it were on working livery. no riding instructon is included however all children will be given the opportunity to ride supervised in the indoor school on a daily basis. hacks and lessons can be booked as normal, and you can enjoy the livery discount too.

summer pony club camp day one

okay folks. it has taken me all this time to recover from camp. we have been so busy i just havent had time to update the blog. so appologies all round. anyway back to the camp!!!!!!! so best to start at the beginning................here goes!!!!!!!!!!!all the kids arrived before 7pm on the sunday evening. that is all 37 kids!to find a disco, bouncy castle and gladiator wrestling all laid on for them, peter brought in the mobile catering van so all kids were suitably fed and tired out. even the adults joined in with the fun. pictures to follow....... i promise.
for the monday the kids were split into groups and enjoyed a variety of activities, plus the usual mucking out etc before all having a one hour lesson annd then enjoying a long hack around the loch..... oh and did i mention that they were all up at about 5.30am for breakfast.
monday evening we had games master bethen to get everyone rallied round to play rounders and tig, although a few had collapsed in front of the telly by this point.
eventually persauded off to bed we all had a much more peacefull night, and funnily enough there was no body up and around at 5.30 for brekky on the tuesday morning...... more like 9am lol lol!!!!!!!!!
tuesday was competiton day. all the kids competed their ponies over showjumps and had great fun doing pony club games. everyone rode really well even when some of the ponies were a little bit cheeky when doing the tack box race, eh zoe!!!!!!!!!!!1we all cried with laughter when zoes pony took a dislike to the tackbox and hurtled off round the field untill zoe had to eventually give up and drop the box. infact i think their was quite a lot of cheating went on in the games, but we were all having way to much fun to care.....

what a fun night we had this monday evening. the kids even roped me in to do the games. the most entertaining jockey or should i say faller offer was leah devaney - who not only fell off once but provided the audience with an action replay lol. lol. caroline thought she would cheat in the water race however with the help of her pony spinning round in circles i managed to beat her. the 3 legged race was hysterical - as we were a team member down for this race we pinched nicholas to be emilys partner, with no sense of coordination, emily draped round nicholases neck practically had to be carried home. lol :-) margo and joyce appeared to have lost all steering and kept ending up in the wrong team. a few new additions to the fun nights were karen, fiona, simonne and niamh and ruby. hope you all had lots of fun and we will see you all next week for fun jumping. oh and karens husband is joining in too lol lol wonder which horse we should give him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

travelling from possel park in glasgow we had 38 budding young jockeys come along to lochore meadows for the day. most of the children had never sat on a horse before, and by the time they left the centre they had all enjoyed a lesson in the school, learning to stop, start and steer, and even had a go at trotting, which caused great hilarity with some of the children. they then all headed out for a treck around the loch. we are looking forward to seeing you all again next year.

more new horses have joined the team here at lochore.
russel is a 16.2hh grey gelding, he is a complete gentleman and will be suitable for most adult and older teenage riders, he loves to jump and will be perfect for novice riders to learn on and more experienced riders too.
also george who is a 16.3hh chestnut gelding, also a complete gent, pops a fence nicely and will be suitable for novice to advanced riders.
digby is a 16.2hh skewbald gelding, suitable for intermediate riders. pops a nice fence and is an angel to hack.
all 3 will be introduced to the lessons over the next few weeks.

we had a good turnout for the new lesson on sunday morning - introduction to jumping.
the group spent the hour improving their balance and position and also working on their control of paces. once this was established they moved on to trotting poles and finished with a few small jumps. they will spend the next few weeks with laura building on confidence and balance. anyone interested should speak to lynne
